Fun, Fitness and Fundamentals
Families in communities worldwide are introduced to Little League® through T-Ball every year. This introduction presents leagues with an important opportunity to provide a positive introduction to baseball and softball that is grounded in fun, fitness, and fundamentals.
What a T-Ball Coach Needs to Know
South Boise Little League is comprised 100% on volunteers. Parents need to understand the league is only as good as the parents. For many parents, this is the first time their child has played in an organized sport. As coaches, we must introduce them to the world of volunteerism and that we need and want their help!
There are various ages (from 4-6) on each team and attention spans vary. A 4-year-old will need more help staying focused while 6 year olds may need of a challenge. All rough housing has to be immediately stifled. Do not be afraid to involve parents as needed. Some kids have little or no interest in baseball. As coaches, we must provide due diligence to keep players interested in the game. Safety is our #1 concern!
T-Ball is an elementary form of baseball. As parents, we like to think our kid/team has great ability. Please remember that, at the T-ball level, this is for fun and learning the game. We want to encourage sportsmanship, safety, and develop baseball skills. Our kids have the rest of their lives to lose and occasionally win.
